Increase your skills and build your community
As therapists, staying updated and connected can make a huge impact on your clinical skills. It can also help reduce burnout symptoms that are so common in our field. EMDR can be especially daunting modality to learn, especially right after basic training. The saying "the more you learn the less you know" is especially true with trauma based modalities. Consultation sessions are designed to help provide therapists with a supportive environment where they can better understand implementing EMDR and refine their skills.
Some therapists like to use consultation to tackle complex cases with confidence, get peer feedback or process specific questions or situations they are not familiar with. Others use consultation to become an EMDRIA Certified Therapist or EMDRIA Approved Consultant. No matter what you choose committing to consultation is an incredible opportunity to increase your skills, ask questions, enhance your knowledge, provide top-notch care and increase your confidence.
Similar to individual therapy, finding the right consultant can make all the difference. You should feel comfortable with who you choose, as you will need to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and collaborating on cases. In addition, you want to make sure the consultant you work with is knowledgeable about the population you work with. I have information about myself throughout this website, however I also have a quick blurb about the style I like to use and the populations I work most prominently with farther down the page. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out via the contact page or email, phone or text (listed at the bottom of each page and on the contact me page).
Who I Am
-
I believe in keeping things professional, but fun. You are a professional and a colleague and I plan to treat you as such. I like to collaborate, use research and laugh during our meetings. My primary goals is to help you enjoy, understand and believe in the work you are doing.
-
I have experience providing EMDR to clients in residential, community mental health, schools, and private practice. I have used EMDR with in person clients and am currently solely providing services virtually.
-
My current focus is on working with adults with complex trauma, ADHD, anxiety and perfectionistic thoughts.
In the past, I have worked extensively with athletes, performers and survivors of human trafficking and/or sexual assault.
I love the brain and use psychoeducation, polyvagal theory, somatic awareness and interactive engagement with my clients, throughout the phases.
I am trained in RTEP/GTEP and have worked with clients to reduce activation related to recent traumatic events using these protocols.
